easy/difficult solutions to the problems:

1. abolish all nationalist schools including chinese schools and malay schools. we only need multiracial national schools.

2. to further develop this mindset, abolish all nationalist parties i.e. parties representing one particular race. that includes the MCA, MIC and UMNO.

we need a United Malaysians National Organisation.

Khai, English is not associated with intellectuality! Cheers!

The English Language

Have you ever wondered why foreigners have trouble with the English Language?

Let's face it
English is a stupid language.
There is no egg in the eggplant
No ham in the hamburger
And neither pine nor apple in the pineapple.
English muffins were not invented in England
French fries were not invented in France.

We sometimes take English for granted
But if we examine its paradoxes we find that
Quicksand takes you down slowly
Boxing rings are square
And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

If writers write, how come fingers don't fing.
If the plural of tooth is teeth
Shouldn't the plural of phone booth be phone beeth
If the teacher taught,
Why didn't the preacher praught.

If a vegetarian eats vegetables
What the heck does a humanitarian eat!?
Why do people recite at a play
Yet play at a recital?
Park on driveways and
Drive on parkways

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy
Of a language where a house can burn up as
It burns down
And in which you fill in a form
By filling it out
And a bell is only heard once it goes!

English was invented by people, not computers
And it reflects the creativity of the human race
(Which of course isn't a race at all)

That is why
When the stars are out they are visible
But when the lights are out they are invisible
And why it is that when I wind up my watch
It starts
But when I wind up this observation,
It ends.

Dear Kgboy,

I do not know what happened to Alvin Toffler after his meeting with Mahathir. But I do know that Mahathir is an astute politician, an independent thinker, and a realist. Toffler is a futurist and a dreamer. If you have read writings of both men, you will understand the difference in their intellectual orientation. Maybe, they disagreed.

Could Toffler have been a CIA spook? We can never be sure, can we? Mahathir always has information at his finger tips on people before he meets them. The former Prime Minister is a remarkable man. An encounter with him at work or in a discussion, as I know, can be an awesome experience.

Rafidah was an undergraduate when I left Uni. She is a rapid fire alright... a great tembak, according to some of her classmates, till now. That is politics. She can cry too.

Thanks.

Khairuddin,

Yes she lectured rural economics which was one of the three papers I took in the economics faculty MU in 1970. She was good. Knew her stuff well and most of all she was very enthusiastic. At least her tone of voice was not boring lah. She fired away in the lecture not very much different from what she does now during seminar. I attended one of her seminars a couple of years ago and was pleased that she has not lost the fire till today.

Dear kgboy

You wrote "rural economics was then lectured by Rafidah Aziz during my time. Her rapid fire lecture left us gasping often."

I want to hear more about it. She was MU's lecturer back then? Was her a good lecturer?

Royal Professor Ungku A Aziz was the bearded figure you cant forget jogging around the campus stopping to chat with the security guards with his signature headband and shorts. Ahh!! those pairs of legs where the female students did not fail to scurry quickly away lest they were caught admiring them.

Saurdara Din, rural economics was then lectured by Rafidah Aziz during my time. Her rapid fire lecture left us gasping often.

The beloved professor commanded utmost respect from both students and academician alike. I think he is the longest serving VC todate. He rarely lectured during my time and it was always nice to hear him during occasions when he spoke. His voice is unique. Certain agree that he spoke clearly and if I would say disengagingly too. That's why during his time conflicts were quickly resolved amicably.

Saudara Din,

Yes Edward de Bono and Alvin Toffler. I remember attending a seminar by Alvin Toffler some years ago where he was rushed for time due to an appointment with Tun Mahathir. Alvin Toffler subsequently left his adivsory seat in a hurry. Saudara Din may have clearer picture of the debacle.
