Special Statement: Police Report on Raja Petra
Special Announcement!!
[Below is the press statement by Dr. Lim Teck Ghee on the UMNO Police Report Against Raja Petra. I fully endorse Dr. Lim’s statement. Please see my accompanying comment below.]
Press statement/Letter to the Editor by Dr. Lim Teck Ghee on UMNO Police Report Against Raja Petra
I am writing in defense of Raja Petra Abdullah and his commentaries in his website, Malaysia-Today.net. This website contains some of the finest and most incisive political analyses and commentaries on the problems and ills that beset our nation. Malaysia-Today.net is simply without peer – whether as a whistle blowing or expose revealing resource or as a barometer of the pessimism and cynicism that many Malaysians feel when given freedom to express their views. Whilst some of the comments that are contributed by the website’s considerable following – especially on racial and religious issues – may appear over-exuberant, they are no more than the honest - if sometimes – passionate views and sentiments of our own citizens who write in precisely because they love the country and want it to be a better place.
Raja Petra’s own writings have not only been consistently factual, balanced and temperate. In his investigation of the many follies in our nation, he is providing that model of fearless, patriotic and ethical journalism that can help bring about higher standards of governance and behavior, especially from our leaders.
A fair-minded government should not for one moment entertain - let alone pursue - the false charges that have been leveled against him by UMNO. I hope good sense will prevail - and Raja Petra and Malaysia Today can be allowed to continue unhindered in their good work aimed at achieving a better Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, 24 July 2007.
MBM’s comments:
I join Dr. Lim Teck Ghee and others in condemning this police report lodged by UMNO. Just as I thought we had breached the depth of stupidity with Najib Razak’s utterance of Malaysia being an Islamic state, out comes this news of an UMNO Vice-President lodging the police report.
Without being unduly Pollyannaish, I see some good coming out of this bizarre police report. I always knew this double Muhammad to be utterly corrupted but I did not know that he breached his scholarship bonds or that his divorce settlement to his wife, the Sultan of Selangor’s daughter, was a cool $12 million ringgit. Thanks to Raja Petra, now we know.
This is the Muhammad who was acquitted on a criminal charge of trying to smuggle a couple of millions in cold cash on the technical grounds that he could not understand the customs declaration forms! This begs the question, if this graduate of a local university could not understand English (no surprise there), how could he follow Raja Petra’s exposes that are written in English?
That soiled characters like this double Muhammad could rise so high in UMNO reflects more on the nature of UMNO. UMNO in turn reflects more on our Malay culture and norms. That is the tragic part.
I am glad and not at all surprised that Raja Petra, far from being cowered by this latest challenge, is being emboldened. The kucing kurap of UMNO cannot rustle this lion of a prince.Thank Allah that Malaysia is blessed with such individuals as Raja Petra.

“You are Johnny come lately to this blog. I had written several comments on what Pak Lah has done right in the past. So go look it up and stop putting your finger up your ass otherwise you may join Bush and need a proctologist ha ha ha.
I do sense a trace of envy towards Dr Bakri and his wonderful wife. Terkilan kot sebab tak dapat isteri mem orang puteh. I do suggest that you keep Dr Bakri’s wife out of this. Be fair.”????
Mers, still got his fingers in his fart hole, I don’t know - he is quiet. Yo, man, what do you think of UMNOPUTRA and do you know your fatihahs and do you do Syahadah, Mers? Teach me your Syahadah, dude.
Hey Jong,

I really want to know, dudes.
Eh, Jong, where did you get the 72 virgins joke? And who are the fanatics you want to derail? So your gods are coming? I am here till the last day of PRU12, dudes.
But, I don’t have to be cool just to please Karen. As Stebengs asked: How the kids, Karen?
If you find this very uncivil, just censor it like you have done before, oh, how many times I don’t know, bakri.

This double Muhammad or Mike Tyson, within the Umno circle, is a wolf in sheep skin. In spite of his follies and failings the Umno hierachy deems it fit to elect him a vice president. He has the cheek to go around preaching the gospel when his whole body is soiled with “najis” and urine. I should have instructed my henchman to finish him off in the first place. But there are many more like him within this corrupt, inept and irrelevant political party. God save Bolehland.

So Raja Petra has to have his champions too to come to his rescue?
I thought he is a fearless, liberal, dude?
Where is his True Muslim? No words for petra kamaruding?
Keep it up, pete.

Dear Dr. Bakri and Dr Lim,
I join you both and others in support of Raja Petra, our master blogger, and also young Nathaniel Tan.
I spoke to Raja Petra last night and he told me that he would not allow himself to be intimidated by the likes of M-Squared aka Mike Tyson and his UMNO cohorts. This multi-million dollar man represents a generation of corrupt UMNO politicians who are still clinging to power. In fact, under Imam Badawi, this man has become UMNO’s Information Chief.
How can such a person be credible? Thick faced as he is, he can still face the public after being caught redhanded by the Australian customs and immigration authorities for foreign exchange smuggling. Unfortunately, he did not get a conviction here because he was protected by the UMNO dominated BN government.
UMNO has to invent bogeymen and play the Malaysian nationalism and religion cards because it has become a party which no longer has the overwhelming support of the Malays. Under Badawi, corruption has become very rampant through the public service. Today, nothing can be done without the “grease”.
Thanks.

UMNO’s police report against Raja Petra Kamaruddin and MT is proof that what he wrote in http:Malaysia-today.net are nothing but the truth. RPK has ‘exposed’ them and scared the hell out of those bunch of corrupted gangsters holding public office.
We will not be cowered by their action. Let’s expose them further! The power of the internet is in our hands, let’s stay united and spread the word.
Regime change is what this country needs, desperately!
July 24th, 2007 at 12:20 am
An honorary rank is an honorary rank and that is all. He or she is not governed by rules and regulations under the Army Act 1972 unlike a commissioned officer in the Regulars.
The MB/CM of every state is being nominated “Pengurusi Jawatankuasa Pendukung Askar Wataniah” (Chairman Support Committee Territorial Army) and is responsible for the upkeep of the territorial regiment in his state. This ad hoc committee was introduced in 1996 and has proven effective in ensuring the continuity of the “terries” in the respective state.
The rank was that of a colonel when it was first introduced but was upgraded to a brig-gen (one-star general) in 2001. The rank of the commanding officer of the territorial regiment was similarly raised from a colonel a brig-gen.
This is a form of enticement to attract senior polticians and corporate figures to join the terries. Officers and men of the territorial regiment are volunteers with a skeleton staff of Regulars managing the regiment.
To be a brig-gen in the Regulars is not as simple. One has to go through the mill to attain the rank beginning with many career courses, a staff college and a defence college.
In the mid-90s the Chief of Army then was so imbued with academic qualifications that he decreed officers aspiring for senior posts possessed a Masters degree. Fortunately, he was sacked before he could do more harm to the Army.

Jong,
Shall we bring George W. Bush and Dick Cheney since they are the exponents of Regime Change.
Realistically, I do not see how we can unseat this Government. They will by fair or foul means win the 2008 elections (if it is held this year). But we can do is to elect credible Opposition candidates (50 additional seats) to Parliament. That would shake UMNO and the BN from their sleep and force tooth and branch reforms and change their leadership.
July 24th, 2007 at 12:40 am
Nothing is impossible. Taiwan did it?! If each of us do our part to help the opposition line up qualified candidates in coming election and convince our familes and friends that we have enough of them for 50 years.
If we try, there’s 50-50% we may succeed but if we don’t, it’s zero % and the next 5 years will be worse and who knows, I might have to wear a tudung, you are right!
Let’s send in the tremors!
July 24th, 2007 at 1:11 am
“If each of us do our part to help the opposition line up qualified candidates in coming election……”
Or ensure that that BN candidate picked is morally upright. Although somehow I think that is next to impossible.
Maybe we are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.
July 24th, 2007 at 1:18 am
Is there anyone out there with a background in political science who can explain what constitutes a regime ? If by definition a corrupt government is a regime, basically all political entity that forms a government is a regime.
As i understand it, a regime would mean a political/military entity that usurp power by violent means and suspend all constitutional rights.
July 24th, 2007 at 1:27 am
For the moment, BN is being held ransom by immoral and corrupt people. How can we trust them anymore? Isn’t they like the expression, “disebabkan nila setitik, rosak susu sebelanga”?
Yes, for now I have my doubt about this government unless the real MAN or WOMAN in BN stand up and be counted for. Each speak their mind against what is wrong and dare to resign if it goes against their principles. Unless that is happening, at least MY (I do not know about others) trust in this present government is no longer there.
July 24th, 2007 at 1:47 am
Foremost is winning over the rural mass. They are the ones who will determine the outcome of the elections. Umno has and will cotinue wooing them and will leave no stones unturned to win them over.
The Opposition parties are too fractious to be of any use at the moment. I don’t believe they have a credible manifesto to go with in the first place. A hefty pay raise have the civil servants singing to Badawi’s tune.
Anwar Ibrahim must unify the Opposition under one banner. But can he do the unthinkable given the time frame? You have seen what happened at Ijok. But like they say nothing is impossible. The least that we self-respecting Malaysians can expect is a reduced majority in Parliament.
They can come down hard on RPK but are mindful of the repercussions such an action will cause. Force engenders hatred. Events in Pakistan are a stern reminder of a planned action gone awry.
History will repeat itself. It has happened before and will happen again. After all the KMT of Taiwan, LDP of Japan and the Congress Party of India have been assigned to the dust bin of history for similar reasons.
July 24th, 2007 at 2:10 am
The word “regime change” is synonymous with Iraq under Sadam Hussein. It was used to justify a military invasion by Bush. A regime is closely associated with a military dictatorship or government gained by undemocratic means.
The BN government may not be a regime but its draconian laws, especially those relating to human rights and the freedom of speech and beliefs have engendered such a perception.
So a regime change in this context is acceptable. It’s a misnomer but an appropriate one, I may add.
July 24th, 2007 at 2:10 am
The question is does UMNO in its present form matters any more? Does integrity, morality a mere word in the dictionary that UMNO can exist without it? The UMNO of the foundation is definitely no longer the same as UMNO of today even for a person who don’t really care whether it exist or not.
July 24th, 2007 at 2:39 am
Fathol,
I agree that laws such as the death penalty, the ISA or for that matter detention by religious authorities pursuant to the Shariah Enactment is morally dubious.
But such laws were passed by the elected representative of the people of this country, lets not get into whether the election is fair or not. Come every GE, the same tired old people are voted into power. The same corrupted people with a moral compass as that of the fictional character, Jack Sparrow that we vote into power. The same old people that we gave carte blanche to pass any law on our behalf that they think right.
Now, these elected representantive, representing the majority believe that such draconian laws are necessary. During the 80s and the 90s, the Opposition much to their credit have consistently voiced out their disagreement. Barisan have always claim that such laws are necessary.
We, the majority, consented by voting these people who stand by the belief that such laws are necessary. The elected representative voted by us, the armchair critics, too lazy or too afraid to take a stand in public so long as the economy grows at 9% consistently can’t now claim foul.
All I am saying is that, the present Government hardly qualify to be termed as a regime. Call them corrupted, call them idiots for all i care but … regime ? A bit over dramatic I would say.
I can’t recall Nazi Germany being termed as a regime by historians. I suppose because they were voted in power by the majority, through democratic means. I remember reading somewhere, someone said..”and that is how democracy ends, by thunderous applause”.
July 24th, 2007 at 2:46 am
Having said all that, the clamping down on bloggers would backfire surely. Another dumb move by dumb politicians.
My hats off to Raja Petra for his bravery. I wish I had his moral fibre and his courage.
Makes me wonder at times, what makes someone so stubborn and so passionate about something that he puts his life on the line standing up to what he believe is right.
In a few months time we will be celebrating our 50th Independence Day. I know who I’d consider as a patriot. A worthy candidate for Pingat Gagah Berani.
July 24th, 2007 at 4:04 am
I’ll stand by RPK anytime, anyplace.
But it hurts to realise that the “good men & women” of Malaysia, willing to stand up & be counted, are far & few in between.
July 24th, 2007 at 6:31 am
Just a note of caution here. There is an UMNO planted blogger amongst the commentators in this group. The blogger has put out several bait in the form of questions and waiting for Bakri or someone else to take the bait. The questions usually surround the topic of corrupted politicians, UMNOputras, asking Bakro to name corrupted politicians MP, ADUN etc.
I do hope nobody falls for his bait. 10-4 over and out
July 24th, 2007 at 10:20 am
What has become of our government that are hell bend on blinding the ordinary Malaysians on the many economic and moral genocide commited by the leaders of the country?
The main stream press are gagged to continue providing news of infancy to Malaysians, and the Blogs are the only avenues that can expose the views that have been obscured from us.
We Malaysians salute the HERIOCS of Raja Petra Kamaruddin, who continue to channel us news and views that without fear or favour.
July 24th, 2007 at 6:26 pm
Thanx Shrek, tried he did, we just allowed him to make a fool of himself. That was low.
July 24th, 2007 at 6:38 pm
Just heard, RPK has been asked to report to Dang Wangi Polis at 11 am today, for questioning.
July 24th, 2007 at 10:10 pm
Dear Dr M,
COrrupt Practice In Malay Culture.
In the days of old especially during the heyday of tin mining , the business centred around the royalty. The only way to regain favour is to look after the Royals and the business is yours for the taking. The smart chineseman with acute business decision placed themselves close to the position of power ie. the King ,and using the authority and position that they had , build their business empire and wealth. This was how the Chinese gained economic prominece in Malaysia. This is not a racist statement but a matter of fact as analysed by me from history, but the Jews did the same thing as they are doing now in America….thats the way of smart people.
The Kings of old were too contented with their wealth, power and positioned managed to subdued the grouses of Malay population who saw the country’s wealth stripped to useless ex-mining pools without benefitting them in any way.Ovewhelmed them with titles of contented people,at peace with the world , only living for afterlife and face-shoving title of lazy people, the deprivation of wealth was justified as their very own faults.
The Malay grouped and reduced the power of the palace to what it is today through political means.Out of respect the Kings still continue to carry on with the power as a constitutional monarchy…and I for one has no interest to go back to the days of old that sicken the previous generation of Malay.
At present day the Malay in power (UMNO)through their self believe that they are indestructable and immune from any crticism , had played the role of royals of old.
Combine that with the some Royal houses who still maintain the business method that was practised 100 years ago(There are still many Chinaman clamouring around Royals) and the new ‘Royals’ in the form of leaders of UMNO ,the Malay as a whole had a double whammy of misfortune. They are one big frustrated lots.
Unlike chinaman who help each other in business, the newcon Malay ‘Royals’ (UMNO)only use politic and power to enrich themselves without any drop left for common people.
The Malays with power and newcon ‘Royals’ have repeated the same thing all over again. The Malay businessman would fall together with the fall of their political patron…as if they have no backbone of their own.
No amount of fund poured to elevate the economic income of poor majority Malay would work if the main leak is Malay themselves. The good example of Newcon Royal is this Muhammad Square…he is one big leak and shame to Malay.
From his royal position this M square has the cheek of using questionable RM12 million to pay for the folly of his dick. His salary , income tax ,allowances was never again reviewed to justify this spending of unknown sources of income for him to pay this vulgar amount of money and unaccounted millions which he tried to smuggle to Australia.
Suddenly this M square decided to play the card of patriotism.Didnt he felt patriotic when he pocketed millions of dollars years ago when invariably those were rakyat’s money?.Was that a patriotic deed to potray a typical malay politician as a village idiot who didnt know a word of English so that he escaped and saved his neck? Wasnt that a treason to lie to the King and eloped with His Royal Highness’s Princess?
As far as majority of Malay are concern he is non the whiter than what he claimed to be, if not of much darker shade.
So basically the whole issue is to continue plundering the country wealth and expecting everyone to say noyhing about it….thats is what the goverment is expecting all the bloggers to do.

We reduced the powers of 9 royals and in turn we created countless corrupt politicians acting like royals.
Does that sound like sedition ? Can’t the powers that be treat my honest asessment as fair comment ?
I wonder whether the Malaysian Government has jurisidiction to prosecute anyone who post comment in bakrimusa.com on the basis that such statement is deemed criminal by the laws of Malaysia ?
July 25th, 2007 at 4:31 am
What I mean to say is, bakrimusa.com is run on US server. If one treat cyberspace as a physical space, bakrimusa.com is only subject to the jurisdiction of the laws of US.
What is deemed seditious by the laws of Malaysia would be deemed as protected free speech in US.

Din Merican,

Care to elaborate?
DrM: It’s due to money politics
KUALA LUMPUR (July 24, 2007): Former Prime Minister Tun DrMahathir Mohamad says he declined to contest for a delegate of the Kubang Pasu Umno to this year’s Umno General Assembly due to “money politics”.
He said the party would “roll out money” to buy votes from delegates if he decides to offer himself for a delegate seat.
“That’s why I declined. I know I will lose because they will pay money to delegates not to vote for me,” he told reporters after delivering a keynote address at the International Conference on Gold Dinar Economy 2007 here today.
Mahathir, who received three nominations from branches in the Kubang Pasu Umno to contest for a delegate seat, has declined to accept the nominations. Last year, Mahathir, who helmed Kubang Pasu Umno for more than 30 years, received 15 nominations to contest for a delegate.
The former Umno president, however, lost as he came in ninth among 15 aspirants who vied for the seven seats.
On claims that the government was clamping down on bloggers, Mahathir said though there has been such attempts, it would not stop people from using the Internet, Malaysia’s national news agency Bernama reported today.
“We have tried. I myself want to ban pornography in the Internet but it’s impossible. Unless, of course, the people who are putting these pictures in theInternet are taken to court by their own governments but they have been putting these ‘dirt’ from America.
“So, we can’t stop it,” he said, adding that it was just the same as bloggers…

I am not Malay and i do not think such failings of people like double M is representative of Malays. I know of many good Malays around including people like yourself, RPK, Farish Noor, etc. Double M’s misbehavior is just plain human greed fueled by a corrupt system that encourages such type of depraved behavior. He is not the first nor will he be the last until and unless there emerge a leader in UMNO that is clean and has the courage, strength and integrity to purge scourge such as this.
Sadly there is no such person in UMNO at present and in the forseeable future. That is the sad part.

Mika Angelo-0 et.al,
Think about this:
“A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War 2 owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism. “Very few people were true Nazis,” he said,” but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.”–anon
I am concerned that we too can suffer the same fate as this German, if we continue to remain indifferent, silent, just sit back and let it all happen. Let us hope that I am pessimistic.
Bloggers United is making our politicians shiver in their air conditioned offices, homes, and Benz. Kudos to Bakri, Farish Noor, Raja Petra, Jeff Ooi, Steven Gan, Nathaniel Tan, Citizen Nades (of the Sun), Rockybru, Desi YLChong, Johnleemk and others of the 5th Estate. They are united for an open and tolerant Malaysian society.
I think their game plan is simple. It is to provide information and alternative perspectives to the incessant propaganda we get daily from our radio, television and mainstream media. Malaysians must learn to think for themselves.
It is working. The political establishment is jittery. The fact that the Badawi Government and UMNO are resorting to the use of draconian laws shows that they cannot take the “accountability heat”. Even their agent bloggers including apologist Nazri Aziz have no effect. How can anyone, no matter how smart or sycophantic, defend a Government that condones corruption and protect its corrupt officials and party leaders?
July 26th, 2007 at 12:14 am
Mikal,
If that doesn’t sink into your thick skull, I really don’t know what will.
Yeah, then when they come for you, there will be no one left to speak out. I will weep for you.
July 26th, 2007 at 1:34 am
Mikal,
It is no more funny. Grow up man, grow up. Don’t behave like a suicide bomber. If you want to die, just go ahead and no one is stopping you but never become an agent of those corrupted bastards.
If we choose to remain silent and condone their corrupt practices, we will all wake up one day and find that they own us and we are answerable to our ‘umno moral guardians’ for our way of life, our way of dressing, the food we consume and who should join us in our traditional festivities.
Today this country is flooded with thousands of unemployable graduates(YES, Dr Mahathir just claimed, we are the most successful developing nation in the world!) - the same scenario of India decades ago which I would never had imagined would ever happen here.
Look at us 50 years on, half a century of Independence from the British and this is as far as we get. We have successfully churned out a bunch of corrupted morons to rule this country!
We owe it to our children and their children thereafter, for a fair, peaceful, tolerant and multiracial Malaysia in every sense of the word. Let us speak out, stand up and be counted.

Who Is Mikal?
Hey Jong
I do not mix with those abuse drugs!
I do not mix with those abuse drugs!
Who is Mikal?
Do you have issues with him?
I do not mix with those abuse drugs!
What’s eating this Mikal?
What’s eating you?
Are you some kind of a shrink, Jong?
Who is Mikal, jong?
Are you doing drugs, Jong?
And where is Shrek with his radio-car?
Are you both on drugs?
I do not mix with those abuse drugs!
Please ask Din Merican if anything Mika Angel-0 wrote that is so hard to understand, Jong for I know that Che Din kita can tell you what PM may be thinking and DrM may be thinking but I know Din Merican knows how Tan Sri Ghazali thinks!
I do not mix with those abuse drugs!
I do not mix with those abuse drugs!

“So, we can’t stop it,†he said, adding that it was just the same as bloggers…
Mahathir reminded bloggers to always stick to the facts and not “dabble in fiction”. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak said yesterday the government had nothing against bloggers but everyone, including bloggers, must be aware that there are laws in the country.

Are we dabbling in fiction?

Do you care to share with us your thoughts, Saudara Din Merican

Can you add 2+2? Queensland (like NSW, ACT etc) has a casino. If anyone brings in cash, they can buy chips and get a cheque when they want to cash chips. If they get caught bringing cash into Australia, they need a very good lawyer or some other kind of clout to get out. The latter is better, especially if they are ignorant of the language, etc of that place.

mika sounds like a drunkard. if he tried to appear cool(?) wise (?) angsty (?), well he fails miserably. and if this is malaysian idol/1-in-milion/akademifantasia, he would be the first to get booted.
is there anything contructive he wrote? even my 8 years old anak sedara can copy paste like he does..
what a cyber sampah
