Saya amat mengagumi Rustam.
Kadang kadang saya membeli akhbar yang saya tidak suka hanya untuk membaca ruangan yang beliau tulis.
Saya doakan rohnya ditempat orang orang yang diberi rahmat oleh Allah.
Ucapan ta’ziah kepada keluarga Allahyarham Rustam.
..kami juga telah kehilangan sebutir cahaya amat tinggi nilainya.

Rustam was a man of great character, fortitude and wit.
When he was denied the Chair at UKM he said to me, with a burst of laughter, that he only wanted a table.

Although I did not meet Rustam Ali in person our emails had the desired effect. He agreed to contribute to Ipoh Echo and I did the honour of publishing some of his written views.

My condolences to Rustam’s family and siblings. I have always held him in esteem. It’s a great loss to the nation and to the print and online media.

I share my sadness on hearing of a Malaysian patriot’s passing on. May peace be with him always.
I consider it a privilege to have bumped intohim a few occasions. Also a short encounter with his daughter (who came for aninternship at malaysiakini, if I recall correctly) — greta men beget great choldren, I’m sure the next generation with continue Rustam Sani’s journey. peAce to all. — Desi
